KRK Rokit monitors

Musikmesse 2011: KRK Systems has introduced the Rokit RP10-3, a mid-field three-way monitor system and the latest in their popular Rokit line.

The Rokit RP10-3 is designed to deliver “true bass response” down to 35Hz. The Rokit RP10-3 also offers a rotatable tweeter/midrange speaker mount plate, for more accurate acoustic alignment.

I haven’t had a chance to demo the RP10-3’s yet, but the Rokit line has been popular with home studio owners, because of their great performance for their price range. I’ll be interested to see how the RP10-3’s fit into their line-up.

Pricing is and availability are TBA.

Mackie MR5mk2 MonitorsAt the 2011 NAMM Show, Mackie introduced a redesign of its line of powered studio monitors – the MRmk2 Mackie Reference Monitors.

Mackie MRmk2 studio monitors feature new transducers, designed to match their respective amplification. Both models employ a 1? neodymium magnet-driven soft dome tweeter ,featuring ferro-fluid cooling to help protect against power compression during wide dynamic playback.

The 5.25? (MR5mk2) and 8? (MR8mk2) hyperbolic-curved cone woofers are designed to reduce severe cone resonances and minimize distortion.

The Class A/B amplifier section features XLR, TRS and RCA connectivity, along with user-adjustable acoustic controls for basic room correction. The cabinet is rear-ported, reducing distortion, and features a Waveguide and molded baffle, offering balance to the HF / LF content while increasing both the stereo imaging and depth of field.

The Mackie MRmk2 Series Powered Studio Monitors will be available worldwide February, 2011.

The MR5mk2 will have a U.S. MSRP of $199.99 and MR8mk2 will have a U.S. MSRP of $329.99. V
